Going Further
The short tale of a mega adventure into the unknown in the Pyrenees…
over the mountains
lied the goals for us
through tunnels and over hills
riding and carrying our bikes
many started
few finished
everybody knew it would be hard
few thought they’d find themselves
wondering in the thin air
if tomorrow would be harder
over the mountains
we all took our bikes
through rivers and cafes
to quench thirst and hunger
croissants, coffees
pizzas, beers
fuel for the road ahead
and for tomorrow’s stage
over all mountains
some didn’t fully go
from exhaustion or mechanical
or simply to just “stay here”
contemplating
happiness
but all of us without exception
knew that we’d been part of
something new, extraordinary
the very first Further adventure
over the mountains I found myself
part of a soul I thought was lost
I left something else that was consuming me
the mountain listens
and doesn’t mind your story
over the mountains I might go again
once croissants and coffees,
pizzas and beers
have been consumed with friends far and near
then maybe just maybe
I’ll call Camille again
and tell him “Sign me up!”
for another fantastic adventure
